Where is Ligonier Located?

Ligonier is a small town located in Southwestern PA. It's one of those treasures that if you're not paying attention or know beforehand you might just miss it as you're heading to somewhere else. It's kinda a word of mouth type of place. You know how there are places up in the New England area that doesn't really advertise, but people just know where it is, that's Ligonier.

It's nestled between mountains and is an actual valley. 50 miles east of Pittsburgh so it is a little drive to the city, but when you're here you want to enjoy the town life and see all the beauty that is offered.

From the Pittsburgh and Ohio Areas
Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike heading EAST.
Exit the PA Turnpike at the Donegal exit # 91

Another thing that I love to do is get a coffee drink and sometimes a sandwich from Abigail's coffee-shop. I adore their Mochaccino Rockets that are full of flavor with coffee and chocolate all frozen and blended together. My all time favorite is the pumpkin spice lattes! It is divine for pumpkin flavor. It totally hits the spot when you need something to warm you up. I do have to remember to get caffeine free because otherwise I bounce off the walls and stay up till all hours of night. They are very accommodating to your needs. Skim milk, soy milk, whipped cream or no, caffeine free...you name it. The best part is you get a little Abigail's card that they punch with every specialty drink or regular coffee and with 10 you get a free one....this is very easy to acquire. The other plus is if you purchase the Holy Trinity cards that give you discounts on surrounding businesses you get 10% off your drink when you show that. I am having an Abigail's craving today in fact, but I am stuck at work.

They have the famous chicken salad sandwich served on a croissant and comes with a side of chips and two complimentary mints. Another great sandwich is the hubba hubba humus that comes on a bagel. Once again you can request a wrap or whatever bread you would like and they will do so. The environment is one that has a leather couch with a coffee table, some reading supplies, tables and chairs, a television with the news on, quiet quaint music pumped in, and access to the wifi in town. So you can bring your work to Abigail's and enjoy not being at "work". They also sell baked goods and teas sets, coffee cups, and other little goodies that make great gifts. The regular coffee flavor that is a favorite in our house is the dancing goats...hmm so good. They have the specialty coffee blends there to buy and they will even grind them how you like them.

If you are visiting this is a must to get a cup of joe and walk around town or veg out in the store. There is no website, but its location is right beside Michael's jewelry store and across from the Library located smack dab on the diamond front.

This is my very first post about Ligonier.  I am slowly getting all my ideas and thoughts gathered for different blogs.  Ligonier, Pennsylvania is a small town in Western PA about 50 miles east of Pittsburgh.  It is a tourist town because of its picture perfect cozy town persona.  I've lived here 24 of my 25 years of life.  I love it here, at times it's a bit too slow, but it's a great place to live because there is little stress, you know most everyone (outsiders are evident), you can keep your doors unlocked for the most part, and where else are the majority of people honest (I've heard stories of purses, wallets, and other valuables being turned into front desks so the rightful owner can find them)!! I always recommend to anyone to visit my little town.  There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and things to see in Ligonier.

I currently work at one of the stores on the Diamond (the picturesque loop with a gazebo in the center) this is the main attraction.  I work at Equine Chic where we sell merchandise for your horse and home.  You don't have to have a horse to shop here. There is an array of goodies from clothing, socks, jewelry, to limited tack for riding, riding apparel, and house gifts for your kitchen, living room, bedroom, and stationary and books.  The website is cute and the owner maintains it to stay up to date with products and information.  Sometimes there are items on special only on the website.

Another place that I worked at is the Ligonier Tavern.  This s a great restaurant to experience the Ligonier ambiance.  They serve lunch and dinner.  I always recommend the amazing cranberry walnut chicken salad sandwich served on honeybee bread along with some homemade chips on the side.  Honestly I always tend to take the other half home for a snack. The prices for sandwiches are reasonable and for dinner you can get a nice entree and appetizers for a bit of a splurge.  The artichoke dip appetizer is a meal in itself and is my all time favorite.  This comes with pita chips and served piping hot.

So now you can check out Equine Chic and the Ligonier Tavern for a bit of Ligonier flavor.
